I grew up on the very west side of Cedar Falls, IA, in a tiny neighborhood with a cornfield for a backyard. I have two brothers who beat the living crap out of me... just kidding! They were tough on me, but that's what makes me tough as nails today. My mother works her numbers brain every day as an accountant, and My father owns a well-known landscaping company. You could say it's in my blood that I was born an entrepreneur; In fact, I am the 4th generation!
Today I am engaged to a wonderful man who cherishes my son as his own. My son, Rhett, is five and loves to help me when he can; he even has his own tools. My fiance, William, is a paving foreman at Streb Construction of Iowa City. We met on Facebook dating, and to be completely honest, the redbone coonhound in his profile picture stole my heart away. We love dogs so much that we have four fur babes- two bluetick coonhounds (Hank and June), a Huskey (Aspen), and a mini dachshund (Oakley).
My dad transformed our garage into a workshop, and that's where my love for building originated. Besides watching my dad build cool things in the garage, I also played a lot of The Sims, which generated a lot of creativity. From there, I decided I was going to Iowa State to study civil engineering to become an architect. As the years went by, I realized math wasn't my strongest suit, but attention to detail was.
I was immediately inspired by the show Rehab Addict with Nicole Curtis. I have always loved the characteristics of old buildings and homes, another reason I wanted to be an architect. So I started school in 2016 to get my diploma in construction management at Northeast Iowa Community College. In 2020 I graduated from Colorado Technical University with a Bachelor's in Business Administration, and I obtained two certificates in construction project management and construction scheduling.
Well, I'll skip to the critical part, WHY I started this business.
It's simple; I wanted to be on my own. Okay, it's a little more than that.
Long story, short version. I began my journey with some school and started building furniture on the side. I helped some people with their remodeling projects; then, I decided to get a job in construction. I was treated poorly in many companies. I have a lot of talent from the experience that I pushed to get, and I can treat people better than I was treated! So here I am, making a difference in the industry and helping other women succeed in their dreams with my expertise!
Now that you know a little about me, I would love to teach you tools and safety. I help women overcome the fear of power tools and losing a finger or two. We don't actually lose fingers, but we lose the fear. I help you understand the mechanisms and use them properly and, most importantly, safely. Help me host a women's tool safety event by scheduling a video appointment for a consult today! Do you have a group of gals that would love to connect and learn more about the tools they need?
